How have you been? Hope you had a good week. I've been shooting all kinds of stories recently - everything from Thanksgiving to Christmas to a winter d.i.y. Sometimes you just have to shoot wintery stories in the summer. Lots of fun, but left no time to blog. Thanks for all your lovely comments and emails...always perks me up after a long day!

TGIF
I'll be away for the next week and I may not be able to post. I hope to, though. If you have any tips for what to do in Maui, I would love to know. All I have so far is mai tai's by the beach. ;)
Have a great weekend, everyone!
Take care,
janis

Weekend Observations
Monday seems to have popped up rather quickly. Last week had been a full shoot week, so I did a little editing on the weekend, and lounged around at a beautiful park. Quiet and lovely. How was your weekend?
Most of last week, was spent shooting beautiful linens for St. Geneve. There is something to be said for well made linens. I wanted to throw all of mine out, when I got home. It's also pretty great that it's a local company. They make amazing linens, pillows, and duvets. I wanted to pinch a certain silk filled number. It was incredible.
After a crazy week, it's always nice to hang out at a place like this. Whytecliff Park is about 25 minutes from Vancouver, near Horseshoe Bay. It's a great place for scuba diving too (we used to scuba dive often). If you find yourself in the area, you really should visit.
That's it for today! Have a nice Monday.

Weekend Observations
I'm a little late with this one but, technically, it's still the weekend (Canada Day weekend) ;) How was your weekend?
I received a copy of Canadian Living magazine (thanks Brett!) featuring a story I shot awhile back. "Trash to Treasure" features the talented Colleen Sawatsky, of Vintage Home, and her patio make-over. Heather helped with the styling. Here's a peek....
I also added some prints to my etsy shop. A series of images of Salton Sea and a couple of pink houses....
Thanks for stopping by!

Weekend Observations
I can't tell you how happy I am that the sun is shining today. Ahh, I love it. Hope you all had a good weekend.
This post is a little about "baby steps", it seems. Baby steps with the weather inching towards being summery, getting organized, working on my sewing "skills" (ha!), and eating frozen yogurt pops instead of ice cream.....

My husband helped with finding a rod and hooks that would work with this cabinet. Merci, Rob.
That was a bit of my weekend. What did you get up to?

Pretending It's Summer
Happy Friday! Did you have a good week? Plans for the weekend?
Thought I'd play a game and pretend that it's warm and sunshiny. The rain has been pretty relentless (I still love you Vancouver). Here are summers past in Melbourne, Hawaii, Naramata BC and, yes, even Vancouver....

Weekend Observations
Did you have a nice weekend? It always go by so quickly, doesn't it? Sigh.
A little bit of my weekend....
A little bit of my weekend....
Working on the images from the Butter cookbook shoot.
I scouted this fun home recently. Keep you posted on where the entire story ends up!
"Love" print by Jen Ramos of MadeByGirl. Merci, Jen!
What did you get up to this weekend? Fill me in!

Happy Friday
I'm happy to see the weekend roll around. Looking forward to some down time! What will you get up to this weekend?
I'm wrapping the week up with a trio of buildings in NYC, taken from the High Line....

Hello Weekend
After noticing that gas, here in Vancouver, bolted up to $1.50 per litre, I thought I'd end the week with this image of a ghost gas station. All the more reason to park my car more often ;)

Weekend Mode
It's Victoria Day in Canada, so the weekend is still on. Love holiday Mondays. Happy Birthday Queen Victoria!
My niece is currently sitting beside me, working on her writing project, asking me about Terry Fox and how to spell "institute". I hope I've spelled it correctly ;)
This is a bit of what's gone on this weekend....

By the way, I don't believe in ironing pillow cases. Way too much work.
Frames found at Stepback. My husband painted the woman enjoying a mai tai. Not sure if it was a mai tai, but I like to think it was.
What did you get up to this weekend? Still enjoying the weekend?
Have a good day! Back soon.

Weekend Observations
Did you have a nice weekend? What did you get up to? I worked for most of mine, but it was still lovely and too short ;)
A few bits of my weekend...
A few bits of my weekend...
The best bit is that is was for no special reason, and paid for with their own money. Love that.
Butter is a beautiful, and delicious, bakery here in Vancouver. Their amazing marshmallows are sold all over North America and now Japan! Rosie Daykin is the multi-talented owner of Butter Baked Goods, and writer of this book, published by Random House. My first house shoot ever was with her for House and Home. I've since gone on to shoot her stunning garden for Vogue Living Australia, and Rosie herself for the cover of Canadian Home and Country. I can't wait to work with her on this huge project (99 recipes) and learn more about the book publishing world.
That's it for today! Have a great day.

Weekend Observations
I hope you all had a lovely weekend! Here's a little of mine...
Nerissa Goco is the designer of these beautiful bags. Check out their shop here.
See more of the Cross here.
This fun "guerilla gardening" workshop was put on by Aloe Designs. Guest speaker was author and blogger, Andrea Bellamy. Hands in this pic belong to Aynsley Tanner, my partner in seed bomb making. I can't wait to start tossing these randomly throughout the city.
This book is so helpful if you have just a tiny space to work with. I've shot Andrea in her tiny garden for Sunset magazine - it's incredible how many edibles she grows.
What did you get up to this weekend? Hope it was a fun one!

Weekend Observations
I hope none of you are suffering from St. Patrick's Day "festivities"! We had a quiet one around here. It was nice, as this week is shaping up to be an busy one.
Here's a bit of my weekend....
While eating some of that chocolate, I watched this short film about the writer of this book, John Roderick an AP journalist, and his beautiful farmhouse. If you have 15 minutes, you should watch it. I loved it. Thanks to Walter, at Old Faithful, for telling me about it.

Shamrocks for Friday
We've had rain, a hail storm, a little sun, and a bit of a rainbow - perfect way to wrap up the week.
Who plans on becoming Irish for the weekend? Guinness anyone? I would go for Guinness cake, myself.
Whatever you do, have fun!
Back soon,
Janis
