BC Home + Garden Show Give-Away

Happy Monday! If you're in BC, I hope you're enjoying your "Family Day" holiday Monday.

For anyone living in the Vancouver area, or planning to be, I've got two pairs of tickets up for grabs, courtesy of the BC Home + Garden show. It takes place February 19th - 23rd, and it's shaping up to be a great event. Really looking forward to seeing some of the celebrity guests including,  Janette Ewen, Jennifer Scott and Jef Hancock to name a few.

To get into the home decor mood, I thought I'd share some images from a shoot I did with David Keeler, of Provide Home, for the March issue of Style At Home. David decorated this city townhouse for a family of three and helped create a modern, calm and inviting space.

Warm Wintery Whites

While a good portion of Canada is in a deep freeze, here in Vancouver, it's winter as usual...sideways rain. To perk up a rainy Wednesday, I thought I'd share a little peek from a pretty story I shot with Joanna and Erin, of The Cross, for Chatelaine magazine, out now.

An Artist's Creative Space

I hope you had a lovely Christmas! This week just kind of flew by, didn't it?

Always, at this time of year, I get the urge to rip apart my office/studio and get organized. I was inspired by artist Zoe Pawlak's tidy studio where she creates her beautiful paintings, meets clients, and has the occasional get together. I shot her in her studio for Rue magazine, awhile back, for the December issue. Click here for the whole story.

Zoe recently launched her rug collection, with Burritt Brothers. Pictured above, is Zoe with one of her new creations. I loved them all. 

I love the spare look of her studio....I could move right on in. I'd just need one of her rugs to finish off the look ;)

A Little Melbourne for Monday

I hope you all had a lovely weekend! I've been on vacation for the last few weeks, and slowly getting back into the swing of things. How did Christmas creep up so quickly? Yikes.

We were in Tahiti, then headed to Australia to visit family. I posted a number of pics on instagram, but thought I'd share a few more bits of Melbourne. I love it there....

Checked out the restaurant at Prahran Hotel. Incredible design. 

Stumbled upon Von Haus in Melbourne, early one morning. Tiny space inside, with room for up to 6 outside. Loved it. Wish we could have gone back for wine time ;) 

The National Gallery of Victoria had a fantastic exhibit on called Melbourne Now, showcasing design of all kinds. Pretty amazing. If you visit Melbourne, you have to visit the NGV. Such a stunning place.

 I had the opportunity to check out the Big Design Market and did a post for Poppytalk. Over 200 incredible designers set up shop in the beautiful Royal Exhibition Building (a world heritage site).  Click here for the whole story.

Vintage Modern Pretty

("Love" print by Jen Ramos, Made By Girl)

I do love a good mix of new, modern and vintage styles, and this house had just that with some pretty thrown in for good measure. Designed by Rebecca Lapres, of Riesco & Lapres, it's perfect space for the homeowner and her twin daughters. I had the pleasure of shooting them and their happy home for the current issue of Style At Home. 

The girls have their own little art studio in the basement. They were painting a still life of a bowl of pastel coloured meringues. Very sweet.

Weekend Observations

I hope you had a nice weekend! I'm still in weekend mode, as it's Victoria Day today. I do love a holiday Monday.

Here's a bit of what went on around here this weekend...

Had a sneak peek at a house designed by Evoke International Design. Landscape design by Considered Design. Styling by McCarthy•Hinder. 

Popped down to Seattle for a whirlwind day trip, with a couple of good friends. Checked out the European Masters exhibit before it wrapped up, at the Seattle Art Museum. Found ourselves in Fremont, a cute neighbourhood filled with shops and restaurants. Picked up some Swedish clogs at Lambs Ear Shoe Boutique....had to have them. 

If you're in the Vancouver area, you have to check out the Grand Hotel exhibit at the Vancouver Art Gallery. It's all about the evolution of the hotel. Love it! It's on until September, and I plan to visit several more times. So much to take in and absorb.

The New Domestic At Home

Last summer, I had the pleasure of shooting Nerissa Goco, and her daughter Luna, at her home that she shares with husband Peter Hoang. Nerissa is the talented graphic designer behind The New Domestic. Love her textiles and bags. Their fantastic 70's rancher is featured in this month's Style At Home. Thought I'd share some of it with you...

Nerissa and Peter have such a great eye for putting together all their vintage finds and collectibles. It's done sparingly too, which makes for a calm bedroom. 

Not only is Nerissa an amazing graphic designer, she can bake too. 

I love the clever little display crate....and the blueberry crumble pie. Let's just say, we shot this as fast as we could ;)  

Snack time for Luna, in their new kitchen. The wall of bamboo, outside the window, looks so pretty and better than any old curtain or blind for privacy.

A Few Days in Paris

Ah, Paris. I can't believe I had never been there before. To be honest, it hadn't been at the top of my list (weird), now I can't wait to go back. We only had a few days to explore, and these were some of my favourite moments...

The green chairs sprinkled all over the Jardin des Tuileries was a pretty fantastic sight. If it was this beautiful in February, and can't imagine what it's like in summer. 

Centre Pompidou was incredible. We checked out the Dali exhibit along with everything else it had to offer, including the beautiful restaurant.
