A Little Lamp Lift

I did a little guest post on Poppytalk (one of the best blogs out there), yesterday, and thought I'd give it a mention here. This was one easy, but extremely satisfying, project! Head over to Poppytalk for the "how-to".

    what a great idea! I love that you used transparent ribbon instead of opaque and the shape of the shade is really charming. Darn - I could have done this with a rescued lamp for Habitat instead of buying a new shade!
    ps: The Guiness barrel floor must have looked amazing! It's Arthur Day here in Dublin in honour of Arthur Guiness. If I liked Guiness I'd raise a glass but in my case, I'll raise a glass of diet coke! :)

    That was fantastic. So simple but so effective! I have a great shaped shade but it's white and doesn't suit my living room. I think a wrap coat of ribbon might just do the trick! Thanks Janis :)

    I love this... I been shopping around looking for old lamps as I'm always trying something with them.. I tried the ribbon previously but didn't remove the old shade.. so of course had little effect when turned up... I'm off to check out the post... and thanks so much for your kind comments...     I have a great old lamp base that I got at the 20th Century Antique show at the Croatian Cultural Centre. I got this boring white shade made for it years ago and it just doesn't fit. Maybe I should try what you did - i think a bright sunny yellow ribbon would do the trick!

    I love it! I just saw it on Poppytalk and think it would look awesome on this spray painted chandelier I am working on. It has smaller shades that I took the fabric off of because it was kind of ugly looking. Do you think it would look good in a teensy version as well?
