My City

Happy hump day! Hope your week's going well.

I wanted to share a story I did for The Simple Things magazine, one of my favourite mags. Each issue they do a "My City" feature, and they asked me to do one on Vancouver. I love these features, so I was pretty happy to do one for my hometown. Click here for the whole story.

What do you love about your city? I'd love to hear about it.

Have a good day!

A Few Days in Paris

Ah, Paris. I can't believe I had never been there before. To be honest, it hadn't been at the top of my list (weird), now I can't wait to go back. We only had a few days to explore, and these were some of my favourite moments...

The green chairs sprinkled all over the Jardin des Tuileries was a pretty fantastic sight. If it was this beautiful in February, and can't imagine what it's like in summer.

Centre Pompidou was incredible. We checked out the Dali exhibit along with everything else it had to offer, including the beautiful restaurant.

A Garden Inspired Home

Hope you had a nice weekend - Happy Monday! Actually, it's so late in the day now so happy Tuesday!

Thought I'd share some of the images of a home that I shot, for House and Home, last summer. It's on the cover of the current issue. Designed by Sophie Burke (the interior), for her parents, it's a beautiful home with a stunning garden and amazing views. I've seen a few homes that Sophie has designed, and they're all so different from each other. Love that.

A little instagram outtake of the day. I loved their garden.

That's it for today! It's been crazy busy the last few weeks....now I've got some serious blog-catching-up to do! Thanks so much for checking in with me.

Back soon.

Weekend Observations

Did you have a nice weekend? What did you get up to? I worked for most of mine, but it was still lovely and too short ;)

A few bits of my weekend...

The best bit is that is was for no special reason, and paid for with their own money. Love that.

Butter is a beautiful, and delicious, bakery here in Vancouver. Their amazing marshmallows are sold all over North America and now Japan! Rosie Daykin is the multi-talented owner of Butter Baked Goods, and writer of this book, published by Random House. My first house shoot ever was with her for House and Home. I've since gone on to shoot her stunning garden for Vogue Living Australia, and Rosie herself for the cover of Canadian Home and Country. I can't wait to work with her on this huge project (99 recipes) and learn more about the book publishing world.

That's it for today! Have a great day.

Back soon,
Janis

Rained out Photo Shoots

Where are you spring? Apparently you are the worst you've been for 50 years, here in Vancouver. I don't mind a little rain and cold (I keep telling myself that), but you're making it really difficult for me to get several garden shoots wrapped up. The flowers look like they're sobbing. Here's proof....

Off to Victoria for a shoot, this weekend. Always nice to hang out there. What will you be doing? For those of you in the U.S., have a lovely long weekend!

Happy Friday everyone! Back soon.
