Hope you're all having a good week so far! It's a beautiful sunny day here in Vancouver, but it all comes crashing to a rainy halt tomorrow, apparently. Oh well, it's only weather ;)
Thought I'd see if I can get you in a festive spirit, or maybe you'll just be irritated by seeing Christmas on November 10th. Hope not. Feel free to let me know.
I shot Nancy Riesco's house on a hot summer day, for this story. That's how it works sometimes - Christmas in August, "spring" vegetable garden in November. I worked with Maureen Willick (stylist), Kate Keeler (fabulous assisting) and, of course, Nancy Riesco (home owner and interior designer) on this story. You can read more in the December issue of Chatelaine, or on their website.
Pretty and sparkly pink details.
Loved the chair with a stack of mandarin oranges.
Those chairs. Adore them.
I love Nancy's mix of mid-century, new, and antique. The family dog, Ricky Bobby, is pretty great too. There are many more rooms to show you, but I'll leave that for another day....this could go on forever!
Back soon! Thanks for stopping by.
Janis

Please keep the Christmas posts coming!

Lovely photos. It is a refreshingly down to earth home. Attainable and very charming.
How did they find a Christmas tree in August? Lovely!
it's never to early for christmas festivities!
:)

janis - this house is fabulous! great pics too..... the dog, the chairs, the antlers on the table - great. Also if you are in bris when visiting aust let me know!
I could get into Christmas in August, no problem (as long as I don't have to see all the horrible mass-produced xmas items in department stores.)
It was such a nice Vancouver day today. It's too bad that the rain is coming, but at least we know it doesn't last forever.
It is never to early to think about Christmas...lovely home!
xoxoxo
Oh I love this sneak peek- thank you for sharing!
My favourite has to be the clean/simple dining room with the aluminum Christmas tree.
my store is filled with christmas but i have not done a thing at home yet... soon.... just love thanksgiving and want to enjoy every moment until then... xx

HIHI! Haven't popped by in a while; such a treat to get a lil Christmas post :) tres beautiful!
Inspiring interior Janis - I love the bright red number 2! Also their dog - very cute :-) Never too early for some Christmas cheer in my book - happy weekend to you xxx
I love that Christmas decor - it's not too Christmasy!
Also, when I read the dog's name was Ricky Bobby I immediately thought of that guy on The Hills, but then remembered his name was Justin Bobby. Which came first, I wonder? (Ricky Bobby IS a pretty cute name for a dog anyways)
It's perfect timing. I am already saving decor ideas but I'd love a tree in my place right now
We're putting the tree up today and my reasoning is this: the shops are decorated, the magazines are full of Christmas ideas and my little girls have waited so long to see the tree again.. so why not? Your images are gorgeous..Rachaelxx
It's definitely not too early! I'm already dreaming about my tree, and I've started planting my paperwhites so they'll be perfect for the season.
Love these photos--especially love the pops of red and deep pink against the white walls.
I always love a little Noel! Great shoot! I love that artwork in the 2nd last picture! Have a great weekend!
Ricky Bobby is so cute! And such pretty photo's! I agree with Shannon, always love a little Noel!
Dear Janis, i just LOVE these pictures! Somehow, they strike a note in me - and the paintings are so inspiring! All in all, this looks christmassy in a very light way - not too early for that. Hope you have a great weekend!
beautiful, fresh home. love those antlers! i love how the christmas isn't so overly christmassy... here in california i always try to avoid the too-victorian-too-log-cabin look and maintain a gardeny feel for the holidays. i should start my bulbs now, huh?
i'm tempted to start decorating for christmas as well. since i'll be travelling most of dec, i thought i shd put up the tree in november so i get to enjoy more of it hehe... so it's never too early!
It's never to early for Christmas, it's a fabulous time of year. I often will play Christmas music in August...but shhh...don't tell anyone.
Lovely photo shoot. I like how it's festive, but not overwhelming *holiday*. Beautiful!
that was a fun shoot! i love christmas in august (or july too)
the images look fantastic! that ricky bobby, stealing the show.
What a happy place! How could you be down when you are surrounded by such joy and fun? Awesome.
