Slowly but surely, a "make-over" is beginning. I won't say how long ago I got the mirrors and glass top cut, but it was awhile ago. I got tired of stepping around all the glass leaning up against our bedroom wall, so I finally busted out the drill and did something about it.
Before - A very plain little inset with built-in drawers.
Tools of the trade. I only drilled 4 holes that were of no use. ;)
After - a much perkier little nook. I changed up the drawer pulls, and slipped some wallpaper underneath the glass. I like the glass top, as now the look can be changed up just by changing what's underneath.
Now, we have to work on ripping out the bunk carpet and replacing it with hardwood, new light fixtures and blinds. Slow and steady. I don't want to get ahead of myself.
Have a lovely Wednesday! Back on Friday.

such a simple concept but successful, radical and flexible result; what a pro...
Very cute! I love the colors of the items of the chest of drawers.
I love it! The rounds mirrors are a fun idea and wallpaper under glass is brilliant - I can just imagine the possibilities.... :)

looks great!! The wallpaper under the glass is a great idea!
Glad to hear I am not the only one that has a stack of items on the floor to be hung...
It looks wonderful! x
Those mirrors look fantastic hung in that 'formation'! Isn't it great how simple things can make such a gigantic difference. Now, can you pop over and fix up my bedroom as well!!
You've done a great job there, Janis - the roundness is the winning touch, and it's so much more light and feminine than it was, while retaining its dignity.
Such a cute nook area. Love the three mirrors. Thanks for sharing!
I love the different sized mirrors, they give a sense of fun to the nook. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the rest of the room.
love the round mirrors....im still in the middle of mine....someday next year it will be done!
Good job Janis! I'm always super impressed when a woman knows how to 'bust' a drill - love it! :) Can't wait to see what else you do with the room x
What a pretty little victory! Thinking about the room as a whole can be overwhelming, I do know, but I think every upgrade snowballs your motivation and confidence and excitement for that complete makeover you are looking for. Great start and can't wait to see more!
small touches make such a different, well done!
It's a beautiful little nook! I love it! xo
looks great janis! that's a handy idea about the glass and wallpaper, perfect for switching things up when you want to.
I do highly recommend the wallpaper under glass thing for anyone that changes their tune, often, like me.
Thanks everyone for your comments - I've passed them along to my husband ;)
Wallpaper under glass is such a good idea! Want to go and make a house-makeover now, there are so many beautiful designs out there for wallpaper, it's amazing. Although, since i hang a lot of colorful paintings and change them around, i mostly go for white. Enjoy your new look ;)
That looks so good. Well done lady! Love xx
what a great idea and a huge difference! beautifully done. i love relatively simple procedures that make a beautiful impact. can't wait to see more...
Oh, well how sweet is that!
This looks really great, Janis, and I love the idea of the wallpaper under glass. You've inspired me to get my bum in gear and make our bedroom more than just that--a bed in a room. I've been meaning to do it since we moved in at the beginning of August, but now I am determined. Thanks! Happy weekend! xo
Lovely!! Can't wait to see the carpet/floor after. The still life in the nook is especially charming. what are the flowers? Love your blog.
This looks perfect! I love the round mirrors in different sizes. Did you only use screws to hang them on the wall?
Oh wow! The wallpaper under the glass is brilliant, you just gave me the best idea for my own little bedroom nook! Thanks!!!
Lot's of change... So cute...
Have a sweet week-end !
What a great makeover! Amazing how much some small things like that do..

So great! I got excited just seeing the word Makeover. I laughed when you said you got tired of stepping over the glass. I do stuff like that all the time and then one day I just can't take it any more and get the project done quickly. :) It's something you definitely have to go with the flow of energy on. Best wishes with the rest of your projects.
