Mom

This has been a crazy week, and now I feel like I've been shot out of a cannon. Ahh, the weekend is here though.

My mom, Edna (we call her Fast Eddie), is currently on a cruise somewhere around the Hawaiian islands, so she won't be here on Mother's Day. She's all by herself so I hope she meets a dashing, sexy, older gentleman! This post is dedicated to her.

Mom as a teen. A teen. I so did not take after her.

Mom has 7 of us, and had to raise us on her own when the youngest was only 1 year old. 5 girls, two boys. Yikes. I thought I had my hands full with a dog. She bravely took the entire lot of us camping every summer, and always helped out with school events. I can't imagine how many field trips she went on. One really only needs to "pan for gold" once, tops. One of my many childhood highlights was a "sex" talk using a book about how cats have their kittens. My poor mom! I'm still clueless.

Now mom works at one of our restaurants, Habit, and makes all the bloody delicious desserts. I think the job can be tough for her, but I know she loves all the staff and loves to be busy.

Mom, if you're reading this on board, Happy Mother's Day! We'll see you next week. Hope you like the caterpillar. Like all the pink glitter? What about those pipe cleaners? I made it today, just for you.  Remember those days when you loved our egg carton caterpillars? By the way, I have a 'real' present for you ;)

This picture is for all the moms out there. Happy Mother's Day!!

See you Monday for a new Baked On Monday. Have a good weekend everyone!

Now I see where it comes from - your baking abilities.
Your post is a very nice tribute to your Mom and to all mothers wherever they are.
Happy Mother's Day!

Sex-Ed with Kittens!? o_O;

Your dear Mother sounds awesome, she managed all her kids & the work. Amazing of her!!
I guess her job at the Restaurant is a way to get rid of all the power this Lady still has.

You know, the caterpillar is one of the best presents a mother could ask for, creative & self-made.

I wish you a grand & relaxing weekend. :)

J you nearly made me cry. Edna is wicked, I still say they should have put a bust of her on the bar that you know who did, Queen Vic style. Would have been lovely.

What a wonderful post! Forgive me for saying it, but your mom was one hot tamale as a teenager! She sounds like she's one heck of a mom, too.

I have a feeling that she will adore the egg carton caterpillar. xo Gigi

Love that you made your Mom the caterpillar, Janice ;)
My little crafter couldn't wait 'til Sunday and gave me a lovely ceramic-ish butterfly with similar sparkly pipe cleaners and a one of a kind pink and green jewelry "dish"/ candle holder :)
(try to generally update my blog and include some shots of his creations asap ;)
Have a great weekend!

Your mum sounds like she did a fantastic job to bring up all those (you) kids. I applaud the women of our previous generation as we all seemed to grow up so normal and remember our childhood filled with love and fun. I hope my kids remember that of me. I really wanted to say (in capitals .. so pretend I am standing on the rooftop yelling out loud) I LOVE YOUR PHOTOGRAPHS. All of them. You are so talented. I just love them. If I send an umbrella over will you take a nice piccie for me??? (oh, and kyneton is a fair way away - but wallington is in the same state (-:). Have a lovely day

Fast Eddie is rockin'! Um, yeah, I had nowhere near that amount of poise as a teen. In fact, I have nowhere near that amount of poise today! My mom was a single mom for a period of time, too, and when I look back at all the things she did for us, tirelessly, it's really unbelievable. Tell Fast Eddie to have a margarita for me on Mother's Day!

I love the picture of your mom! My mother had a similar picture taken when she was young! Every one looked so glamorous back then, and had such long legs! Hope your mom has a blast!

vintage photos of our parents are true treasures and the one of your incredible mother is a wonderful keepsake of her youth - whereas you are a living testament to her role as a woman and mother.

I wanted to tell you I saw you over at Poppytalk today...beautiful shoot. The last rhubarb pie I made was soooooo runny, but you may have inspired me to try again :)
