The (Good) Blues

Hope you had a nice weekend! Did you have a nice Easter (if that's your thing)?

I shot this home for Canadian House and Home and it's in the current special "Best Decorating" issue. This home looked so different the first time I shot it, several years ago. The owner, Karin Smith, wanted it freshened up so she hired Riesco and Lapres to do the job. Lots of happy hits of blue throughout the house.

What do you think? Do you like the blues?

I'm in Las Vegas for a few days, so I'll be back on Thursday. Until then, have a great week!

Wow! Hard to believe these lovely photographs were shot 8 years ago! They look so current and fresh. These kinda "blues" are definitely cool with me ;)

Have fun in Vegas Janis!

I am still in my Blue Phase as you might remember, so this place with all its splashes of blue totally works for me! :D

I adore the blue chaise longue so very much. Makes me want to lay back & read something... so inviting with that throw.

I am really diggin' the soft blue in the kitchen - it looks so fresh and calm like everything you cooked in it would turn out beautifully!

The blues are beautiful, and the giant fork. Perhaps if we all drank more Bombay Gin we could live like this.

Beautiful blues! Seriously loving the chaise, lamp and side table in the first image...oh, and if you ever see a square glass coffee table like in the third image, please let me know! Been on the hunt forever...Put a dollar on double zero on the Roulette table for me. :)

Such pretty blues! Loving that blue chaise- I could spend many an afternoon lounging on that thing! I love how that Bombay Sapphire bottle adds that pretty blue to the bar cart. Have a great week! :)

I must admit.. I've been a bit obsessed with BLUE lately. I always see myself migrating to anything blue when shopping and picking up all the blue accents in a room so I am def a fan! Just seeing the first picture when I opened up this page was like "OHHH i love the blue! I want"

Hi Janis-thanks for posting these shots of my home-always interesting to see something through someone else's eyes-or lens. Looking at it here it doesn't look like a 75 year old house or anyone else's house for that matter. Nancy did a great job helping us with our home & you, as always, did a great job of showcasing it.
Hope Vegas was fun!

Hi Janis, I loved working with Karin on this house and I really love how it all turned out - in person and in the photos you took; lovely as always! Meesh asked about the coffee table: peekaboo clear coffee table from cb2 and backsplash is actually back painted glass, not tile.
Thanks Janis!
